Chris Christie told reporters on a conference call this afternoon that he spoke with three other presidential candidates in the last week before deciding to endorse Mitt Romney.

“I spoke with Gov. Perry, Speaker Gingrich, Gov. Huntsman,” Christie said, according to POLITICO’s Reid Epstein. Christie recalled that earlier in the race “we had also met with [Tim] Pawlenty and [Haley] Barbour.”

Asked what changed his mind since last week to endorse a candidate Christie said of Romney: “I found him.”

“I’m not going to play this out for drama. If I’m not going to be a candidate for president, I felt Gov. Romney would be the best person,” Christie said.

Christie also said – as he has in the past – that he has “no expectation … that the vice presidency will be offered to me.”
